SYNOPSIS

Loosely based on The Three Musketeers, Qtown is about unlikely friendships forged through comic misadventures.

This kinetic NZ series focuses on four young men—nicknamed Bozo, Obi Wan, the Sultan, and the Blob—who have abandoned their lives to search for love & thrills in Queenstown, land of adrenalin and extreme sports.

Like many 20-somethings, these lost boys find work in the city’s service industry, catering to rich tourists. They are an eccentric group of housemates, with low-paying jobs and no long-term plans, but they all adore the great outdoors.

Thrown together by circumstance, our diehard loners must learn to depend on each other in a high-octane world. And come to terms with the reasons why they don’t want to grow up.

DEVELOPMENT

Qtown is a social-driven NZ animated TV series in the early stages of development. It features character-driven comedic moments, drama between friends and romantic interests, and a solid helping of athletic action. The package includes:

To build awareness, the series will start with an initial release of short “Metauniverse” teasers on YouTube & TikTok. These teasers will a) serve as an introduction to the characters; b) help the team gauge audience interest in storylines; and c) build a fanbase for longer-form narratives.

At this stage, we are interested in speaking to potential angel investors, animation EPs, Queenstown sponsors, and international distributors. We can provide:

  • Teaser scripts
  • Pitch deck for the series, with a breakdown of the pilot, subsequent episodes, and major characters
  • Tawai Team budgets for the initial 3-minute intro teaser & eight 20-minute episodes
