SYNOPSIS

NOTTS is a humorous procedural mystery series—with a twist. Criminal cases in modern Nottingham always have counterpoints in the city’s history. While our “chalk and cheese” protagonists are solving modern mysteries, they are also exploring cases from the past.

At the center of NOTTS is Raj, the soon-to-be Sheriff of Nottingham. Born in London to a middle-class British Indian family, Raj is a funny, charming & extroverted man with a military background. Over the course of the first season, he maneuvers his way into the office of sheriff so he can investigate a mysterious organization in the Midlands—the 21st century equivalent of the Coterel Gang. He becomes determined to learn more about their activities.

But he’s going to need the help of Gert, an archivist for the University of Nottingham. Born into a local working class family, Gert is a wry & sardonic academic who answers inane queries from tourists & amateur historians during the day and researches her own medieval mysteries at night. She has little time for Raj’s antics and ambitions. Until she discovers he’s the perfect partner in her quest for historical answers.

DEVELOPMENT

NOTTS is in the initial stages of development. Elinor and Dan have created the outline for the series, with a breakdown of the pilot, subsequent episodes, and major characters. They are interested in collaboration with a Midlands UK production team on the project.
