Library Visit – Melrose Public Library: October 27, 2016
October 27, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free
The fall winds are blowing, the green grass is golden, it’s the perfect time to read! To celebrate The Mechanical Mind of John Coggin, Elinor will be visiting the 4th & 5th grade book club at Melrose Public Library on Thursday, October 27, 2016 for hijinks and chicken-poo-fueled activities.
ACTIVITIES
Readings, Sales & Signings
Elinor will be doing an interactive reading and will need some help with the sound effects!
Create Your Own LEGO® Invention
The universe is the limit! Construct your own dragons, internal combustion engines, or out-of-this-world inventions with LEGO®. Don’t forget to ask your parents to take a picture of your creation—they can email it to Elinor to feature on her Facebook page.
Boz’s Crazy Word Play
That sneaky verbal acrobat, Boz, is running amok in the games department! He’s put together free game handouts to take home and share. If you like word finds, anagrams, and mad libbish silliness, this is the place to be.
Full Steam Ahead! – Immersive Steam Engine Experience
As John Coggin discovers, steam engines may just be the coolest—and hottest—things on the planet. Examine a working steam engine model and draw plans for your own steam-powered racing vehicle.
Chock full of crazy characters and silly words, Elinor’s humorous adventure for boys and girls (ages 8-12) has already received a Kirkus Starred Review. Published by Walden Pond Press/HarperCollins, it’s available through Amazon, IndieBound, and all major booksellers.
